About the event

The Intro to Genetics workshop introduces students to punnett squares and heredity. This workshop also discusses dominant and recessive alleles and their impact on the traits of the offspring plant. Students will use punnett squares to calculate the probability of a create trait to create their own plants and explain the reason why their plants have the features they have. Using https://gardenscience.ac/ a free resource to get hands on and explore these concepts fully, the students will get to experience simulations to fully understand teh concepts! After processing the traits of their plants they will be able to sketch and color their own plant looking into the main biological features of plants from roots to blossom. We encourage students to use their imaginations when creating their plants.
